Born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in the suburbs of Rhode Island, Valerius had hopes and dreams of becoming a Flyy Girl on FOX's In Living Color or a back-up dancer for Janet Jackson. It was only a matter of time, faith and perseverance before the daughter of a Nurse and popular Haitian Saxophonist would eventually pave her own trail into the world of media and production that navigates her both in front and behind the camera. The eldest of three graduated from high school knowing that pursuing an education at any cost was the only way to redefine her life as she knew it.

Valerius completed her undergraduate studies in Mass Communications at St. John's University where she would begin her production career as the Director and Producer of a play entitled, The Revolution Continues. It was also during this time that her personal struggle with low self esteem and self-confidence would eventually lead her to do research on the topic that would later become the inspiration behind her graduate studies at Emerson College.

By the age of 25, Valerius had completed her Master's degree in Broadcast Journalism, received the distinguished Associated Press Award for Public Affairs and produced her award-winning documentary, The Souls of Black Girls. The production of The Souls of Black Girls, which she also wrote, narrated, edited and produced marked a beginning for her and for women and girls of color to better understand the impact of media images on their self-image, self-esteem and self-confidence.

Among other achievements, the success of The Souls of Black Girls garnered the support of the late Dr. Dorothy Height, and was prominently featured as the centerpiece of Procter & Gamble's 2009 national "My Black is Beautiful" tour. To date, one of Valerius' greatest accomplishments has been receiving an invitation to the White House as a guest of First Lady Michelle Obama as a result of her work.

Talented, passionate and committed, Valerius sets out to influence, inspire, uplift and serve women and girls through positive and inspirational television-in front and behind the camera. A member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Valerius remains an active community leader while traveling throughout the country to promote the messages conveyed in her film. Her television production credits include work for networks such as ABC, FOX and BET. She is currently the host of the faith-based webseries, "HerFaith: In Her Words" and developing her own television projects including "The Block", and the sequel to her documentary, "The Souls of Black Girls, Too". Valerius is based in Los Angeles, CA.
